Service Area Outcome #1 - Increase Student Engagement in Campus-wide Activities

SAO Statement:
Students will actively engage in campus-wide activities that foster community, belonging, and student development.

SAO Status: Active
Input Date: April 2024

Measurement:
Attendance will be tracked for all campus-wide activities (e.g., Week of Welcome, Homecoming, Student Forums). Attendance data will be compared annually to previous years to evaluate progress toward increasing student participation.

Target/Standard for SAO:
It is expected that campus-wide activity attendance will increase by at least 5% annually, with the goal of achieving a 20% cumulative increase by the end of the four-year program review cycle. At least 90% of surveyed students will report that events contribute to their sense of belonging and campus connection.

Strategies:

  • Targeted marketing campaigns via social media, email, and tabling
  • Collaboration with student organizations and campus departments
  • Event feedback surveys for continuous improvement

Service Area Outcome #2 - Growth in Student Leadership & Development Programming

SAO Statement:
Students will develop leadership skills and knowledge through increased participation in structured leadership and development programming.

SAO Status: Active
Input Date: April 2024

Measurement:
Enrollment will be tracked for leadership workshops, retreats, trainings, and governance participation opportunities. Pre/post surveys will assess growth in leadership confidence, institutional knowledge, and advocacy skills.

Target/Standard for SAO:
Participation in leadership and development programming will increase by 15% over four years. Students will demonstrate a measurable increase (at least 5% improvement) in self-reported confidence and understanding of leadership concepts, as measured through pre- and post-assessments.

Strategies:

  • Recruitment campaigns targeting diverse student populations
  • Paid and volunteer governance participation opportunities
  • Incentives such as certificates, recognition, and co-curricular transcript credit
  • Faculty collaboration to embed leadership development in coursework

Service Area Outcome #3 - Awareness and Utilization of Student Activities/Union Center 

SAO Statement:
Students will recognize the Student Commons as a central hub for study, collaboration, and engagement, leading to increased utilization of facilities and services.

SAO Status: Active
Input Date: April 2024

Measurement:
Monthly tracking of Student Activities/Union usage (study space, meeting rooms, recreation areas). Student feedback surveys will measure satisfaction, awareness, and perceived value of the space.

Target/Standard for SAO:
Utilization of the Student Activities/Union will increase by 25% over the next four years. At least 85% of surveyed students will report that the Activities/Union enhances their student experience and sense of community.

Strategies:

  • Targeted marketing highlighting Student Commons amenities
  • Hosting regular events and activities in the space
  • Student organization collaboration for programming and outreach
  • Continuous improvement based on student feedback

Service Area Outcome #1 - ASO/ICC/SEAC Personal Leadership Impact 

Students involved in student organizations will understand their personal leadership styles and build confidence in their abilities as student leaders.

  1. SAO Status: Active
  2. Input Date: August 1, 2020
  3. Pre/Post Test – Student organization leaders will complete a leadership assessment at summer retreat and then retake the leadership assessment at the winter retreat. The survey items to be assessed are “I know and understand how my personal leadership style” and “I am confident in my ability as a leader.”
  4. Target/Standard for SAO - It is expected that students will report a 5% increase in answering strongly agree or agree from pre-test to post-test for both statements.  It is also expected that at least 90% of students will answer strongly agree or agree to both statements on the post-test.

Services Area Outcome #2 - ASO/ICC/SEAC Campus Impact

Students involved in student government will understand their ability to impact the campus community based on their participation in student government and college governance.

  1. SAO Status: Active
  2. Input Date: August 1, 2020
  3. Pre/Post Test – ASO and ICC leaders will complete a leadership assessment at summer retreat and then retake the leadership assessment at the winter retreat. The survey items to be assessed are “I understand how my role as a student leader impacts the campus community” and “I understand how my role as a student leader impacts students.”
  4. Target/Standard for SAO - It is expected that students will report a 5% increase in answering strongly agree or agree from pre-test to post-test for both statements.  It is also expected that at least 90% of students will answer strongly agree or agree to both statements on the post-test.

Service Area Outcome #3 - Warrior Pantry

The Student Development Office will assist students in combating food insecurities through providing non-perishable foods, toiletries, and connections to other campus and community resources.

  1. SAO Status: Active
  2. Input Date: August 1, 2020
  3. Data Analysis – The quantity of students who utilize the Warrior Pantry will be tracked by an established record keeping system.
  4. Target/Standard for SAO - It is expected that over 900 El Camino College students will utilize the Warrior Pantry during the academic year. The Warrior Pantry will increase the number of Federal Work Study students and volunteers to be able to continue to serve the Warrior Pantry patrons in an efficient and safe manner.
