Meet the Career Center Staff!

Dr. Yamonte Cooper 

Dr. Yamonte Cooper, LPCC, NCC, is a counselor for the El Camino College Career Center. He has had the opportunity to work with higher education programs and institutions in Botswana. Further, Dr. Cooper was honored with a prestigious Fulbright International Education Administrator Seminar Award in Germany. He is the past-president of the California Career Development Association (CCDA).

Valencia Rayford

Valencia has worked at El Camino College for the past 17 years, first as an adjunct and currently as a full-time counselor. She has served students in the following capacities; Career and Technical Education counselor, Career Counselor and Professor. She completed her B.A. in Psychology and her M.S. in Educational Counseling with an emphasis in Career from California State University Northridge.

Lesley Meza

Lesley double majored in Global Studies and Spanish from UCSB, and obtained both her degrees, M.S. Counseling with specialization in College Counseling and Student Services and Career Education and Counseling Certificate, from CSUN. She has experience working with diverse student populations in which she has assisted students develop and achieve their academic and career goals.

Henry Ta

Henry started as a Career Counselor at El Camino College in Fall 2019. He is an undergraduate alumnus of University of California, Irvine, where he graduated with a B.A in Psychology and Social Behavior. He later obtained his M.S. in Counseling, Specialization in Career Counseling and Emphasis College Counseling at San Francisco State University. Residing in the Bay Area for the last 5 years, he has worked in a variety of public, private universities, as well as a variety of California Community Colleges in Northern California. Returning back to his native Southern California, Henry is excited for bringing innovative equitable change in delivering career services for the students at ECC.

Selene Torres

Selene Torres started her career as a counselor serving the veteran population. She has worked for TELACU Veterans Upward Bound Program as an Educational Counselor. She earned her B.S. in Rehabilitation Services, a M.S. in Counseling with the option in Rehabilitation Counseling and a certificate in Career from CSU Los Angeles.
