Our first-generation family orientations are provided to help you navigate the system and thrive alongside your students. The transition from high school to college can be overwhelming for new students. Family is critical in promoting student achievement and is something we value highly in our program. Join us for First-Year Experience’s annual Family Orientation, tailored to support families, guardians, and caregivers of our incoming students as they begin their college journey at El Camino College.

The term first-gen is often used to refer to students who are the first in their families to attend a college or university. More broadly, a first-gen student is a student who's parents have not received a four-year degree from a college or university in the United States.
