Financial Aid & Advocacy Student Training (FAAST)

How bad is the student loan debt crisis? Pretty bad! As of June 2022, there's more than $1.7 trillion in outstanding student loan debt across the country. As the cost of college rises, so does the need for financial aid. Lucky for you, students who are eligible for South Bay Promise (SBP) can get their tuition and fees paid for the first two years (up to 30 units/year) – a savings of $1,110 or more!

This summer we will be hosting Financial Aid & Advocacy Student Training (FAAST) workshops to help students learn about financial aid policies and how to maximize student aid. All incoming First Year Experience (FYE) & South Bay Promise (SBP) students are REQUIRED to attend one workshop. The following topics will be covered:

  • Understanding your award letter
  • How and when you will receive your financial aid
  • How to maximize your financial aid awards
  • How to maintain financial aid eligibility
  • How academics affect your financial aid
  • Explaining Bank Mobile
  • Student success at ECC

And most importantly, how to apply for ECC scholarships! In 2022, El Camino College awarded more than 650 scholarships totaling over $880,000. Many of our scholarships help cover the full cost of tuition, fees, and textbooks.
