ASO Standing Committees

The Associated Students Organization (ASO) is comprised of the executive cabinet and multiple committees that help serve the associated student body at El Camino College.

The ASO Executive Cabinet serves as a student advocate group receiving comments, complaints, suggestions and other input.

Committees

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee is chaired by the director of finance and addresses all matters pertaining to the budget and finance of ASO.

Initiatives Committee

The Initiatives Committee brainstorms, develops and implements ideas for the benefit and enjoyment of the campus community. They lead advocacy-based projects on campus by leveraging connections with administration and staff.

External Affairs Committee

The External Affairs Committee focuses on creating and acting upon a local government lobbying action plan. External affairs sends delegations to speak with city government officials, state legislators, and any other local government to lobby on behalf of El Camino Students.

Publicity Committee

The Publicity Committee promotes the ASO name, events, and functions in a creative and inclusive fashion.

Programs Committee

The Programs Committee plans and hosts advocacy-based events that promote retention, engagement, and multiculturalism across campus. Programs Committee additionally coordinates workshops to help and educate students onvarious issues.

Internal Policy Committee

The Internal Policy Committee continuously reviews the ASO governing documents for outdated or ambiguous language or errors. This committee proposes and produces changes to the governing documents from other committees or individuals.

Benefits Pass Committee

This committee consistently works to improve access to, features of, and promotion about the ASO Discount Benefits Pass. This committee regularly works with campus partners and local businesses for mutually beneficial partnerships

Resolutions Committee

This committee is the original writing body for all ASO resolutions, which address issues the student body faces.

Data Committee

This committee is in charge of the collection and compilation of all data from events, workshops, meetings, and other governmental areas in order to best present the voting body with information to base decisions off of.
