The Humanities Division at El Camino College offers a wide variety of courses in its departments: English, English as a second language (ESL), world languages and cultures (formerly Foreign Languages), journalism, and sign language/interpreter training .
Humanities courses in our division assist students in strengthening and refining their skills in a variety of academic courses while furthering their educational goals.
Courses in English, ESL, and world languages & cultures (formerly Foreign Languages) range from basic to advanced. As the largest division on campus, we are proud of our quality faculty, who keep current with both their research and practical knowledge of their respective fields.

ESL Placement Services: Rosa Gutierrez is coordinating ESL Placement. For questions, contact ESL@elcamino.edu.
Repeat a Course: If a student receives a substandard grade (D, F or NP) or withdraws (W) from a course once, the student may repeat the course for a second time without permission.
Students who have taken a course twice but earned a substandard grade or dropped the course (D, F, NP or W), may submit a petition to repeat the course for a third time.
