"A Celebration of Chicano Culture" continues through May 10, with lectures, a film screening, and panel disucssion. All are invited to the next event, set for 11:15 a.m. May 7 in the Distance Education Room. ECC's former Behavioral & Social Sciences dean and history professor Dr. Gloria E. Miranda will discuss important Mexican female figures in history. Next, the late Mr. Eduardo "Lalo" Guerrero, a Tucson-born guitarist with astonishing musical range, will be the featured topic of a film and discussion session, "Lalo Guerrero, the Original Chicano." Guerrero's son, Mr. Dan Guerrero, will present a new PBS documentary about his father and will answer questions from the audience. A Chicano student and professional panel is set for 1 p.m. May 9 in the Alondra Room, featuring a discussion and Q&A session. El Camino College professors Mr. Xocoyotzin Herrera and Dr. Argelia Andrade will facilitate the event. The celebration concludes with "You are Indians! Changing Mexican Indigeneity in Literature" at 1 p.m. May 10 in Humanities 114. At this event, Antelope Valley College professor Dr. Ariel Tumbaga will present original work covering Mexican indigeneity in literature. All events are free and open to the public.
