Undocumented Students

  • Guest speaker for PD Day during the Feb 13, General Session. 20 mins of the President’s allotted time is requested. This would be one of the actions to address the fear and anxiety among undocumented students as we enter into a new US Presidential cycle.
    • Coordinator of the Social Justice Center will email information to the President.

Budget Reductions

  • List of suggestions is on the Budget Strategies Leadership Team web page.

  • Board voted to deferred 2% salary increase for Unrepresented employee groups at Dec 16, 2024 meeting.
    • Administrators (managers, supervisors) and Confidentials
  • SRP participants listed by category posted in BoardDocs - Dec 2024 Board meeting agenda
  • Consideration for having Commencement be held off site is NOT strictly based on cost analysis. Intangibles like outreach capital and student preferences are being considered.
  • ECCE is NOT deferring 2% salary increase. This will add to the deficit.
  • Unspent/unencumbered funds in departments may get returned to the General fund. Depending on the budget condition in January.

Reorganization

  • It is NOT planned to use contractors to replace retiring classified staff.
    • May consider hiring Retired Annuitants, Extra Help to temporarily fill for retiring administrators` in facilities.
    • Any temporary back filling of facilities classified personnel will go through ECCE
      • Replacing facilities retirees is mission critical.
    • March 15 notices (similar to K-12) is NOT currently under consideration.
    • TNC workforce reduced. Further reduction may be needed.
      • VPs asked to provide analysis of mission critical positions
      • Workshop to assist TNC find other or additional employment suggested
        • Deans Gonzalez and Baquero will work with South Bay WIB to organize an event
      • Leverage internal talent when looking to backfill mission critical positions.
        • Many employees have upskilled during their time at ECC
          • Audit personnel files for new skills and accomplishments
          • This will be discussed in Executive Cabinet
        • Decisions on “doing things differently” or “not at all” is operational and will be determined at the department level.
        • There will be broad institutional conversations on change and restructuring

Vice President of Administrative Services

  • Loic Audusseau will act as Administrator in Charge of Operations (SW has list of duties)
  • Jeff Hinshaw will act as Administrator in Charge of Fiscal Services (SW has list of duties)
  • Bob Miller will be hired as a Retired Annuitant, Extra Help to assist until permanent position is filled.

 College Council Highlights

  • Consolidate Comprehensive Integrated Plan – Second Reading
  • Feed back from Academic Senate to highlight or add Accessibility provisions in all plans (People Plan, Facilities Plan, Technology Plan, Education Plan, Safety & Security Plan)
  • Late recommendation to include team building activities (i.e. pancake breakfast, retiree celebrations) to the People Plan to promote camaraderie. This recommendation should have been provided when the plans were in consultation.
    • Reach out to your constituent representatives on consultation committees to provide feedback.
  • BetterMynd will replace TimelyCare in providing virtual mental health resources for students and staff.
  • BetterMynd provides similar and better services at a lower cost.
