Complete transfer-level classes in Math and English within one year!
After receiving your ECC Student ID Number and MyECC username and temporary password, you can complete the English and Mathematics Placement Survey found on your MyECC page (student home screen). El Camino College may use one or more of the following measures to assess your academic preparation and placement:

Yes, new students who completed high school in the United States within the last 10 years will be placed into a math and English course based on one or more of the following:
Mostly all students can expect to be placed into transfer-level math and English courses. Students who can benefit from additional help will have a placement that requires them to take a corequisite course along with the transfer-level math or English course.
You will need to visit our Mathematics and English department for proper placement. Please see contact information below.
You may be placed directly in English 1A, transfer-level course, OR directly in English 1A + 1AS, a support course. View the chart.
