The BSS/SEA Pathway is designed to facilitate the academic and college success of Southbay Promise Students by integrating Behavioral and Social Science curriculum, student equity and student services in courses that are designated myPATH. The myPATH designation means that faculty teaching these courses have received equity-minded and culturally responsive training through the Student Equity and Achievement Program.
In addition, myPATH designated courses integrate the following to facilitate student academic and college success:
South Bay Promise students who successfully participate in the BSS/SEA Pathway will have learned in a unique equitable environment and have achieved the following after their first academic year at El Camino College:
The overarching equity goal promoted by the Student Equity and Achievement Program at El Camino College is to provide a teaching and learning environment that is welcoming, supportive, and accessible to all participants, regardless of ethnicity, culture, nationality, language, disability, gender, sexual orientation, or religion, and to ensure that all students have an equal opportunity for academic success. The Behavioral and Social Sciences Division has embraced this goal and transmitted it to its faculty and course offerings producing exciting and innovative curricular and instructional designs for students. South Bay Promise Students participating in the BSS/SEA Pathway will have an opportunity to learn in this unique student-centered environment while being exposed to the disciplines that make up Behavioral and Social Sciences.
Behavioral and Social Sciences is the largest division at El Camino College not only offering a wide range of majors of study, but career opportunities through these majors. The BSS/SEA Pathway is the culmination of this collaborative effort to address student success at El Camino College.
