Undocumented Students Navigating Nursing Careers

: From applying and completing clinical hours to sitting for the NCLEX, Pre-Health Dreamers will discuss the common barriers undocumented nursing students face as they begin their nursing careers. They will also discuss options that exist when facing these barriers. Additionally, They will discuss income-generating options in the nursing field.

Out of the Shadows: Lessons from DACA & The Dream Movement

This pivotal social movement was predominantly led by young high school and collegeaged women and queer individuals; whose bravery and innovation redefined the American imagination of what it means to be undocumented. Through a combination of historical analysis and storytelling, this workshop will uncover why this often-forgotten history is vital for today’s social rights movements. Attendees will learn how the strategies and successes of these young trailblazers can inform and inspire modern activism, ensuring a more inclusive and equitable future.

Know Your Rights Presentation

In the face of the hate speech dominating many national conversations around immigration, it is crucial that people know that the US Constitution provides certain rights for everyone, regardless of immigration status. Additionally, there are steps that immigrants can take to decrease their chances of detection, to protect themselves in the event of contact with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and to prepare if a loved one is placed in removal (deportation) proceedings. Presentation provided by Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights, Los Angeles (CHIRLA).
