El Camino College is pleased to welcome Frank Flores as the 2017 commencement speaker. The Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems Vice President will address the Class of 2017 at the 70th Annual Commencement Ceremony scheduled for 4 p.m. Friday, June 9 in Murdock Stadium.
In recognition of outstanding service and contributions to the South Bay, Assemblyman Al Muratsuchi recently presented the El Camino College Associated Students Organization (ASO) with an Environmental Stewardship Award for their efforts to cut down on plastic water bottle use.
"A Celebration of Chicano Culture" continues through May 18 with a variety of activities. Events will include: "Chicana Literary Feminist Perspectives" presented by West Los Angeles College professor Sandra Ruiz; "The Legacy of the Chicano Movement" presented by University of California, Santa Barbara professor Mario Garcia.
Everyone is invited to celebrate ECC's Asian Pacific American Heritage Month throughout May. The celebration begins with "Liberty in North Korea: Presentation and Panel," where panelists from the nonprofit organization Liberty in North Korea will discuss experiences of North Korean refugees, 1-2 p.m. May 2 in the Student Activities Center, East Lounge.
All ECC employees are invited to join the Class of 2017 at the 70th commencement ceremony at 4 p.m. June 9 in Murdock Stadium.
