El Camino College Celebrates Large-Scale Banner Project Highlighting Students

September 30, 2024 Torrance, CA

El Camino College invites the community to celebrate the launch of a new comprehensive marketing campaign with a special Campus Banners Celebration set for 1-2 p.m. Oct. 10 on Library Lawn.

The campus-wide project involves the installation of more than 200 all-new banners highlighting about 80 El Camino students and 17 programs/services available at the college. The full-color banners are mounted on light poles throughout the 126-acre campus, part of a vast and far-reaching initiative designed to inspire and welcome people to campus, while reflecting the college’s diversity throughout its programs and student body.

Led by the college’s Office of Marketing & Communications and in collaboration with student support programs, the yearlong effort produced a highly detailed project that was inclusive from the beginning, starting with input from representatives of each college department/program, who then nominated students. Three separate meetings covered a project overview, draft ideas, and the final concept.

Along the way, feedback from students revealed that they would like to see themselves as college representatives via this project. They suggested a simple design, with a life-sized photo portrait, name and campus affiliation. Following this response, full-color vinyl banners were created and are now on full display all over campus.

This first-of-its-kind project was a group effort involving all members of the Marketing & Communications team. Learn more about the Campus Banners Project at www.elcamino.edu/banners.

The banner celebration event is free and open to the public.
