El Camino College Students Can Now Attend Classes Tuition-Free
In efforts to remove any financial burdens for students wishing to pursue their college education, El Camino College introduced the Tuition Relief Program which cleared all outstanding tuition and fees for past and current students enrolled since spring 2020. Students who enroll in courses at El Camino College for summer and fall 2022 can apply to have their tuition and fees waived.
El Camino’s Tuition Relief Program, is funded by the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF), allowing El Camino to offer no tuition and fees to enrolled students, as well as debt relief to students with outstanding student balances.
Students who have incurred debts from tuition or fees at El Camino College during the pandemic time period (Spring 2020 through Fall 2021) already have had those balances cleared. Student with debts prior to spring 2020 must complete a “No-Pay Tuition” application to confirm the student wants to participate and re-enroll at the College. Students enrolling into classes for the upcoming summer and fall 2022 classes must also apply for the Tuition Relief Program in order to qualify for the tuition-free opportunity.
“The costs associated with obtaining a higher education is one of the biggest obstacles that prevent many students from pursuing or even completing their pursuit of a college degree,” stated Dr. Brenda Thames, Superintendent/President of El Camino College. “We are aware that some students had to put their academic and professional development dreams on hold because of costs incurred during the COVID-19 pandemic. We hope that by reducing this financial load, students will achieve their dreams of earning a college degree or certificate.”
