Distinguished Awards Plaque

Distinguished Staff Award

Each year, El Camino College honors a full-time faculty, part-time faculty, and classified staff employee for demonstrating the highest level of commitment to their students, the College, and their profession.

Distinguished Staff Award Overview

The El Camino College Distinguished Staff Award is presented annually to a staff member whose contributions demonstrate commitment to outstanding service to the District.

Nominations may be submitted by any member of the college community, students past and present, or persons in the community-at-large.  Staff members may also nominate themselves.

The recipient will be honored at the Distinguished Faculty & Staff Awards Reception and will be presented with a monetary award ($2,000) from the President.

On Commencement Day, a place will be reserved on the graduation platform where the recipient will be introduced during the ceremonies and presented with a specially designed medallion.

The recipient’s name will be placed on a permanent plaque, which will be displayed at the division office of the honored recipient for the year.

Any current permanent staff member in the Confidential Employee group, El Camino Classified Employees (ECCE) bargaining unit, and Police Officer Association (POA) is eligible.

Nominees will be evaluated based on a demonstrated record of:

  • Exceptional contributions to the College and their department.
  • Demonstrated desire for professional growth.
  • Demonstrated value(s) which align with the District’s Statement of Values - People, Respect, Integrity, Diversity and Excellence (PRIDE).

All of the nominee's contributions will be considered, although emphasis will be placed on the nominee's service/activities during the past five years.
