The International Student Program (ISP) team includes immigration advisers and academic counselors and who will help with all aspects of your college experience, from admissions and visas to campus life, degree programs, and assistance with transferring to a four-year university.

International (F-1 Visa) Student Application

Unfortunately, due to complex visa processes in the US Embassy of Yangon (Myanmar), El Camino cannot support applications from Myanmar at this time. Myanmar students, who are currently in the US on an F-1 Visa are welcome to apply to El Camino College as transfer students.

How to Apply for ISP?

Applying to ECC International Student Program can be completed online. Students submit application documents in one email with attachments directly to isp@elcamino.edu. Please follow this step-by-step guide to complete your enrollment. Watch this short video to learn how to apply to ECC International Student Program. 

STEP 1. Gather & Submit Documents

Gather the required documents in the Application Packet depending on the type of application.

Before international students are admitted and issued a Form I-20, they must submit the following;

Transfer students will submit the following;

  • Completed application form including a recent photo
  • Proof of funding
  • Proof of  English proficiency  
  • Transcripts 
  • Copy of passport information page
  • Application fee $50
  • Copy of your current I-20
  • Copy of your F-1 visa

Once you have been issued an acceptance letter, you will give the acceptance letter to your current school in order to transfer your I-20 record from your current school to El Camino College. Please refer to the application packet information for additional requirements.

Applicants must show official proof of funding before being admitted to El Camino College. 

  • A bank statement in the student’s name or the sponsor’s name
  • Showing USD 25,000 is required upon application.
  • An additional $5,000 per dependent is required if applicable.

The above fees represent the minimum established tuition and living expenses that an international student can expect to pay while attending El Camino College. Applicants must show funding of U.S. $22,500 in order to receive the I-20. The I-20 is the document needed to apply for the F-1 Visa. Fees are subject to change at any time. Summer session and winter session fees are not included above as summer and winter terms are optional. All tuition and fees are subject to change. The college health insurance plan must be purchased by all international students.

Students from non-English speaking countries will need to provide proof of sufficient language skills in reading, writing, and speaking to benefit from instruction at the college level.  Proof of English Proficiency is required if your native language is English. New students may demonstrate their English language proficiency by submitting passing scores. Test scores must be recent (no more than two years old).

The following are acceptable forms of English proficiency proof to ISP office;

  • English Proficiency Test Score (TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, iTEP, Eiken, Duolingo)

El Camino Language Academy

 

Transcripts are submitted to El Camino for various reasons. Please provide transcripts of college and secondary grades translated into English, and follow the directions below to ensure transcripts arrive at the correct department on campus. 

For ISP application purposes only,

You may submit unofficial transcripts to place you into courses at El Camino College.  You will include unofficial transcripts with your application

Submitting transcripts to receive credits 

If you are submitting transcripts from another college and university to receive credits;

  • From overseas They must be evaluated by an official evaluation agency and submitted to Admission and Records. Please follow the instructions from the Admissions and Records website here: Transcript & Records

To process the application and issue an acceptance letter and I-20, El Camino requires a $50 application fee. Please either include this fee with your application or you can process an online payment through Flywire at the link here: https://landing-pages.flywire.com/landing/ElCaminoCollege

If you are an F-1 student already in the U.S. and transfer-in to El Camino College

Please send a copy of your valid I-20 with your application. Once you have been issued an acceptance letter, you will give the acceptance letter to your current school in order to transfer your I-20 record from your current school to El Camino College.

Please send a copy of the information page of your valid F-1 visa that contains your picture and other information.  

STEP 2.  After You Are Accepted

Once you receive your acceptance documents and I-20;

STEP 3. Attend Mandatory Orientations

There are several steps you must take to complete your enrollment at ECC international student program. Students will receive the Next Steps Latter for details. 

 

Before arrival in the U.S. 

The next step letter includes student ID#, ECC username, ESL testing info, Counseling info, and Orientation info. Please follow the instruction in the letter to complete your enrollment. The orientation date and time will be listed in the letter.  

  • Complete the ESL placement test
  • Complete the ONLINE Canvas Orientation
  • Attend the LIVE virtual pre-departure orientation
  • Meet with an academic counselor
  • Register your classes

After arrival in the U.S. 

  • Attend On Campus (in-person) orientation at El Camino College on the date given in your acceptance letter.
