Robotics education at El Camino College provides you everything you need to kickstart your Robotics career. Our inspirational instructors will inspire you and assure your success. In just two years (typical duration of coursework), you’ll acquire the necessary knowledge and skill-sets needed for real-world job placement.

Certificate

This certificate sets you on a path to pursue a career as a computer service technician. In less than six months you will be prepared for a career in computer hardware technology.

  • Learn the foundations of electronics and computer hardware technology.
  • Explore topics such as component identification, schematic diagrams, assembly pictorials, soldering (both printed wire boards and terminals), inspection, sheet metal fabrication, hand-tool use, cabling, wire wrapping, printed circuit board construction and repair, continuous improvement techniques (CIT), and electrostatic discharge (ESD) awareness.
  • Practice skills in designing, assembling, testing, and documenting a basic electronic fabrication project.

After graduation, you may enter the workplace in robotics, manufacturing, and robotics-related sub-groups (e.g. automation, robot kinematics). Your Robotics education from El Camino College may also be used as a stepping-stone to other robotics-related industries and sectors. We help you identify career options to best prepare you for your next steps after graduation.

  • Work in a range of job positions in the South Bay area from robotics to automation to manufacturing.
  • Pursue opportunities for advancement, such as apprenticeships and greater educational opportunities (e.g. degree in Robotics and related fields).
  • Career opportunities for this program are expected to grow year-over-year for decades to come. There is never a bad time to start, because the robotics industry is a growing and in-demand field.

  • Gain hands-on skills in the robotics technology lab on campus.
  • Participate in a free, pre-apprenticeship program with fees, books and supplies provided at no cost. Complete the program and:
  • Earn different industry & technology certificates of achievement; and
  • Receive assistance with local jobs applications, and identifying greater opportunities beyond.
  • Take advantage of an internship or apprenticeship opportunity.
  • Compete in team competitions that build relevant knowledge and skill-sets, including prize money.
