College Mission:

El Camino College is equity-focused and partners with its diverse communities to provide student-centered learning, career development, and lifelong enrichment.

Office Mission:

The Office of Institutional Research & Planning (IRP) supports the El Camino College mission by leading institutional planning and guiding research that advances student success and institutional excellence.

Office Responsibilities:

  1. Produce internal and external reporting to meet mandates according to calendar and requirements
  2. Strengthen the capacity of College stakeholders to draw insight from data to support decision-making
  3. Coordinate the development of program reviews and plans at all levels of the College
  4. Support institutional priorities by responding to research and planning emerging needs

2023-26 IRP Office Goals

  1. Assist college stakeholders to integrate research and planning by using research findings to enhance planning, decision-making and continuous improvement
  2. Build campus-capacity to support CIP implementation & coordinate the development of  2024-27 CIP implementation plan
  3. Strengthen the relationship between budget-related data, annual planning and planning-related processes
  4. Standardize data-related procedures for improvement of quality and consistency

Service Area Outcomes

By interacting with the IRP office, ECC stakeholders will be able to:

  1. value planning as a reliable tool to make improvements and to collaboratively work towards common goals
  2. willingly engage in planning processes to assess and enhance services provided
  3. understand institutional decision-making processes related to annual planning and program review
  4. become acquainted with data and planning resources
  5. find, analyze and interpret different types of data
  6. utilize data insights to inform decisions and actions
