El Camino College journalism students recently attended national and regional conferences where they won awards for their work and gained a first-hand look into journalism careers. A highlight of the annual Associated Collegiate Press/College Media Association's National College Media Convention in Washington, D.C. included a variety of breakout sessions and addresses by top media professionals such as National Public Radio legal affairs correspondent Nina Totenberg, Executive Editor Marty Baron of The Washington Post, and CNN White House correspondent Abby Phillip.
