Enrollment Management

Evening Campus Program to Expand
In an effort to increase access to higher education, programs are in the planning stages to create a more welcoming "evening campus" at El Camino College. Through the past five years, we have seen a 4% decline in evening enrollment, with just 15% of our college enrollment made up of students attending classes only in the evening hours. Distance education enrollment has increased by 27%. The soon-to-open Student Services Building is designed to help us address the needs of students who attend class during the evening. An "Evening Welcome Center" will open in the new facility to support the needs of these students. In addition, we are looking at ways to offer more classes that meet the needs of working adults with programs such as in eight-week sessions and adding more online degree options within a hybrid format. A team is also looking at meeting the needs of adult education and re-entry students, such as creating a new associate degree that can be completed in two years via night courses. Watch for more information in the next few months!
