The recently released Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) Data Feedback Report 2016 summarizes El Camino College demographic, enrollment and achievement data from the 2014-15 academic year, as well as some information from the fall 2015 semester.
The report compares ECC's institutional data to a group of colleges based on similarities in size, location and type. For example, colleges in the ECC comparison group include nearby Cerritos College, Long Beach City College, Santa Monica College, and Los Angeles Harbor College, as well as Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut and Pasadena City College. While we generally avoid making direct institutional comparisons, these reports are useful for improving accountability and examining trends across a group of institutions that share similar characteristics.
According to the report, ECC had better student outcomes in many categories than the median institution, especially in terms of degree and certificate counts, time to graduation rates, and persistence rates. The report does not give an indication of where ECC ranks numerically within the peer group, but the rates demonstrate that El Camino College is continuing to perform among top colleges in the group in these outcomes.
