El Camino College Honors Veterans
El Camino College organized several events to honor the many veterans on campus and throughout the South Bay in commemoration of Veterans Day 2016. The celebration included a visit from the "Wall of Remembrance" near the ECC Library Lawn. This traveling memorial contains more than 10,550 names of those who have fallen to global acts of terrorism. Visitors were invited to come to campus to view this powerful memorial. An opening ceremony was also part of the celebration, followed by a panel discussion featuring veteran representatives from World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, Desert Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Veterans shared their experiences and were also available to answer questions. The ECC Warriors football team honored student veterans during halftime of their last game of the season against Long Beach City College. The Veterans Day celebration was coordinated by the El Camino College Veterans Services Program, along with the Veterans Club, and sponsored by ECC’s Auxiliary Services Board, Student Development Office, and the Student Equity Office.
