The Associated Students Organization (ASO) is the student government of El Camino College. We serve as elected representatives for the student body.
We, the Associated Students Organization, support El Camino College students in achieving their individual success in higher education and beyond. We advocate for the diverse needs of our student body and collaborate with campus leaders on crucial initiatives based on student voices. Additionally, we create an uplifting community by engaging with local governance and hosting campus-wide events that enhance the student experience.
To the students of El Camino College, we, the Associated Students Organization, believe in the following values:
Equity: Opportunities for success that cater to the diverse needs of students regardless of their identity.
Collaboration: Connections with students and the transparent advocacy of their interests with campus partners.
Community: A welcoming environment aimed at encouraging civic engagement and a rewarding student experience.
We, the Associated Students Organization of El Camino College, aim to cultivate an inclusive and long-lasting community where all students are supported in achieving their goals.
Per the Ralph M. Brown Act, all government meetings must be readily accessible to the public. As of February 2024, all ASO online public agendas have been transitioned to BoardDocs, consistent with college Participatory Governance Committees. BoardDocs can be accessed by clicking this link.
Once on the site, go to the upper right corner and click on the drop down menu that has a "column" icon and says "Board of Trustees". Select "Associated Students Organization" from the drop down list and you will see all meetings. Meetings for the current week are featured, all other past meetings can be found by year.
We use our leadership skills to stay informed on current issues pertaining to the students, and we commit to improving the quality of education and increasing student involvement on campus.
Duties within ASO may vary with position. Some of our responsibilities are to serve on the Senate, Cabinet, ASO committees, and campuswide committees. We also plan, promote, and volunteer for events to engage the student body.
ASO Appointment Applications are always accepted on a rolling basis. Submission of an application does not guarantee an interview or position in ASO, as needs are determined by the hiring committee. Applications are kept under consideration for each academic year. Apply here.
Your ASO Senators are available for ECC students to share their experiences or concerns. Senators host regular office hours in the ASO Office (Communications 101) or in their respective Divisional offices. Office hours are times to view upcoming ASO events, discuss concerns with your Senators or ASO Leadership, and more. Please note: ASO members do not hold office hours in Summer and Winter terms. Fall 2025 office hours are forthcoming and will be featured on our Instagram account - @elcamino_aso.
