Engineering Department

The Engineering Department at El Camino College provides a program of courses designed to work with other disciplines to cover pre-engineering principles and to prepare students for transfer to an academic program at a four-year college or university.

A. S. DEGREE REQUIREMENT FOR PRE-ENGINEERING

The degree is designed for students planning to transfer into an engineering program. The student will acquire the ability to apply principles of mathematics, physics, and chemistry. Competencies will be regularly assessed through problem solving involving differential and integral calculus of one and several variables; differential equations and linear algebra; mechanics of solids, fluids, heat, sound, electricity and magnetism; chemical reactions and chemical equations.

Preparation for the Transfer Major

F or information on specific university major requirements, please obtain a transfer curriculum guide sheet in the Counseling Services Center, consult with your counselor, or visit the Transfer Center. You may use the transfer major requirements to help you fulfill your associate degree requirements.
