Concert Band

Concert Band @ El Camino College

The CONCERT BAND is dedicated to the rehearsal and performance of the finest traditional and contemporary wind band literature. Its membership is  comprised of musicians ranging in age from High School students to retirees, with both full-time and part-time students, music majors and non-music majors, and community members, with the ability to read and perform music at an intermediate level or higher. The Concert Band performs concerts in Marsee Auditorium in both the Fall and Spring semesters. Other performance opportunities include concerts in the community at a variety of locations and functions.  

Participation Requirements:

All members of the Concert Band are enrolled students at El Camino College. They receive college credit in either SYMPHONIC BAND (MU 265), or through non-credit participation in COMMUNITY BAND FOR THE OLDER ADULT (MU 565). All woodwind, brass, and percussion musicians who can play at an intermediate level or higher are welcomed in the class. There is no formal audition for basic membership. Part assignment and seating within the section is basic on ability. Returning students will have priority over first time students for part assignments within the section. Auditions for section leader are held at the first rehearsal of the Fall semester.

REHEARSALS are held in the Band Room, Marsee Auditorium Room 130, on Thursday evenings from 7:00-10:00. The entrance to the rehearsal room is located off the patio on the north side of the auditorium. Parking is located nearby in the newly complete structure just behind the auditorium. An El Camino College parking permit is required. Sheet music and folders will be issued to all students. The ECC Instrumental Music Department has a limited number of instruments which may be checked out for use in the ensemble.
