Certificates/Degrees Description: Many El Camino accounting students want to start their careers as soon as possible after graduation. Others wish to continue their education at a four-year college or university. We offer options perfect for either goal.

Prepare for entry-level work in accounting immediately after graduation or transfer to a four-year college or university.

  • Learn important theories, principles, and practices of the accounting cycle for unincorporated and corporate forms of business, financial, and managerial accounting.
  • Practice cost accounting and cost procedures used in business and industry.
  • Apply income tax regulations to individual and business income tax preparations and planning.

Certificates

Prepare for a career in public accounting or managerial accounting. Upon successful completion of the program, students will meet the California Board of Accountancy’s 24-unit educational requirement for “Accounting Subjects” and possess skills needed for various entry-level accounting positions.

Interested in entering the tax preparation profession?  Upon completion of the program, students will have the basic skills for entry-level tax preparation positions working with certified publish accountants (CPA’s), Internal Revenue Service (IRS) enrolled agents (EA’s) or California Tax Education Council (CTEC) registered tax preparers.  Students will have the knowledge to pursue certifications with the Internal Revenue Service or CTEC.

The Accounting Clerical Certificate program is designed to provide students with basic accounting knowledge and computer skills necessary to obtain entry-level accounting clerical and support positions in small and medium sized businesses.
