ECC Student Information

Dear Students:

Over the last couple of months, the COVID-19 pandemic has presented us all with numerous logistical challenges. Here at El Camino College, one of the biggest puzzles to be solved has been determining how courses will be delivered for the remainder of 2020. These planning efforts have been guided by our commitment to ensuring student success and meeting instructional requirements, while also keeping everyone safe and complying with social distancing mandates.

With the updated class schedule coming online today, I want to emphasize some important things to remember. As you learned in an earlier communication last week, all instruction for Summer Session will be delivered remotely. Most of these classes will be scheduled as an online course, with some having set meeting days and times and virtual attendance required by the instructor.

For Fall Semester, most instruction will be delivered remotely. We’re working now to determine which courses will be taught online, which ones will be a mix of online and face-to-face instruction, and which ones will require face-to-face instruction. Hybrid courses, which will blend online and face-to-face, will also be scheduled with set meeting days and times.

As you use the searchable online schedule and the Schedule Builder tool, please be sure to check the notes section for each course. There you’ll find vitally important information, such as whether the course is delivered online, when the class meets, and what software or hardware may be needed.

I know that scheduling and registration feel quite different now compared to semesters past. It’s one of many adjustments made in response to the uncertainty created by the COVID-19 pandemic. Rest assured that faculty and staff are working hard to ensure everything goes as smoothly as possible. There may be bumps in the road, but I know the patience and flexibility our campus community has shown throughout the COVID-19 emergency will help us work through this process as well. Be well and have a safe weekend.

All the best,
