New Confirmed Cases of COVID-19 Reported on Campus

El Camino College received a confirmed report on July 14, 2021, that two individuals of our campus community have tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the 2019 novel coronavirus. To protect patient privacy, information regarding these individuals is considered confidential and will not be disclosed.

The individuals tested positive on July 12, and were last on campus on July 8. These individuals have been contacted to identify close contacts while on campus, and those contacts will be notified as soon as possible. Any individuals who are required to observe the minimum 10-day isolation at home will be advised to do so. The areas where the affected individuals visited, the Stadium restroom located on the second level eastside, and the free weight room building located in the Pool/Classroom building will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected as required.

El Camino College also received a confirmed report on July 16, 2021, that another member of our campus community has tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the 2019 novel coronavirus. To protect patient privacy, the information regarding this individual is considered confidential and will not be disclosed.

This individual tested positive on July 15, and was last on campus on July 9. This individual has identified close contacts while on campus, who have been notified, and those individuals who are required to observe the minimum 10-day isolation at home are doing so. The locations where the affected individual visited, the police department, will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected as required.

It is important to know that transmission more commonly occurs via sustained face-to-face contact and through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Surface transmission is less common.

The entire El Camino College community sends these individuals sincere wishes for quick recoveries. As always, all El Camino College students and employees are asked to follow the directions given by public health and elected officials during this outbreak. This includes obeying the Health Officer’s most recent orders from Los Angeles County and the State of California.
