Majority of Classes to Continue Online in Fall 2021

While El Camino College is encouraged by the expanded access to vaccines, including the recent announcement that those 16 and over may now receive the vaccine, the College has determined that due to the scheduling challenges faced by our students, the majority of courses will continue to be offered online this fall. The fall class schedule provides about 20 percent of classes to be on campus with the remainder being offered in remote, online and hybrid formats to provide a safe learning environment for our students.

El Camino continues to follow the guidelines set by the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health to ensure a safe and positive transition back to campus life. In the meantime, the following information is the most recent update on what’s happening as we prepare for the upcoming fall semester, beginning August 28.

  • Most lectures will continue to be conducted online.
  • Face-to-face classes for programs that prepare students for essential industries like healthcare, public safety, and manufacturing will continue to take place on campus in limited capacities.
  • Following guidelines by the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health, physical conditioning and limited practices for student athletes to maintain fitness will continue to occur outside, and under the supervision of the Athletic Department. Social distancing will be strictly enforced.
  • A limited amount of physical education, music, and art courses continue to take place on campus with restrictions.
  • A limited number of courses with hard-to-convert labs will be offered on campus.
  • LA County Department of Public Health made vaccines available to all persons 16 years and older beginning April 15. Students and employees are strongly encouraged to make an appointment to receive the vaccination.
  • Visit the COVID-19 Updates page for the latest information.

The El Camino COVID-19 Task Force has been planning since February 2020 to ensure that all students, employees, and visitors visiting our campus remain safe and protected when in-person instruction returns. When it is safe to bring all courses back to campus, it is our highest priority to provide an organized, safe, and successful transition with as little disruption or inconvenience as possible.
