Testing Update for Vaccinated Employees and Most Students

February 4, 2022

Testing No Longer Required for Vaccinated Employees and Most Students

Task Force Reviews Current Practices, Makes Recommendations

Effective Monday, February 7, testing will not be required for vaccinated employees and students. This decision was made after careful consideration by the COVID-19 Task Force. Testing continues to be required for exempt employees and students at MBBM 134. Only those student athletes who are exempt will need to continue testing weekly in order to satisfy college and CCCAA requirements.

Any employee and student who wishes to be tested can also do so at MBBM 134.

In addition, everyone must continue to wear proper face coverings. Face coverings mean a surgical mask, a medical procedure mask, a respirator worn voluntarily, or a tightly woven fabric or non-woven material of at least two layers.

Visitor Practices

The Task Force also agreed to return to the prior visitation practice of requiring visitors to show proof of vaccination or provide a CLIA-certified negative COVID-19 test result taken within 72 hours. Visitors who do not have vaccination proof or a negative test result will be provided a test at MBBM 134.

Unvaccinated Students

Unvaccinated online students who need help accessing services, such as financial aid or counseling, are invited to contact Student Services at 310-660-3405 or by emailing welcomecenter@elcamino.edu. For more information on support for students visit the Warrior Welcome Center.

Screening Protocols

The process to access campus buildings via the World Back to Work platform continues unchanged. For those with exemptions, a negative test is verified. For the vaccinated, vaccination proof is uploaded and verified. Following those steps, a health screening is completed at a kiosk and a wrist band is provided when a blue pass is shown.

The college and COVID-19 Task Force will continue to monitor the spread of COVID-19 and follow federal, state, Cal/OSHA and Los Angeles County Department of Public Health guidelines for institutes of higher education when making decisions that affect students and employees.

Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we continue to adapt to the fluidity of the pandemic.
