XICANA! Exhibit Opens at El Camino College

September 25, 2024 Torrance, CA

El Camino College Art Gallery and the Experimentally Structured Museum of Art (ESMoA) have partnered to present the XICANA! Exhibition located in El Camino’s former Art Gallery in the Arts and Behavioral Science building. Rooted in the sociopolitical movements of the 1960s and 1970s, Chicana art has become a dynamic force within both American and Latin-American cultures. It serves as a profound medium for artistic expression, social commentary, and the formation of cultural identity. Featuring over 70 prominent Chicana artists, it acts as an educational platform, emphasizing the cultural and social importance of Chicana art while contributing to a more inclusive cultural dialogue.

Opening Reception will be held Thursday, September 26, 2024 from 4 p.m. – 9 p.m. Curatorial walkthrough and artist conversations at 6pm. Poetry reading by Masiela Montserrat Corona.
