Kid’s Virtual Summer College Program for Grades 1-12 Begins July

El Camino College Community Education department presents its summer schedule of classes, open to all ages and all members of the community, featuring their award-winning summer Kid’s College program for kids entering grades 1-12.

The July 12 – August 20, 2021 live-online program consists of one-week or two-week Monday through Friday sessions with morning and afternoon options.  The Kid’s College not-for-credit workshops, camps, and classes are designed for serious summer fun with an emphasis on inspiring a sense of wonder and imagination for learning. Parents can choose from over 30 technology courses in coding, app design, video game creation, virtual reality and more. According to El Camino Director of Community Education, Betty Sedor, this year’s Kid’s College offerings include cutting-edge creative courses.

“Science, technology, engineering, arts, math, it’s all here,” she explains.“These classes can lead kids to practical real-world experiences; empowering them for future careers and for our current virtual reality.”    

In addition to the math, reading and writing courses offered, this year’s Kid’s College will include digital photography, animation and drawing/illustration for grades 6-8, and essay-writing, algebra, and tutoring for math and Spanish for high school students.

Parents are welcome to join in the fun this year as Kid’s College now include camps for both kids and their parents.  These camps include topics parents will enjoy as much as kids and will make for great bonding experiences. Camp Chocolate is one of the kids and parents’ classes be offered, led by Master Chocolatier Romeo Garcia of Romeo Chocolates. Part of the week-long chocolate learning adventure includes receiving a chocolate care package from Romeo chocolates that will include top-notch delicious chocolate materials you’ll learn to cook with in Camp Chocolate.

All children from the community grades 1-12 are invited to enroll. All classes will be live online format.  Average course fees for two-week/half-day sessions is $199; for specialized one-week/half-day STEAM Tech courses is $179.  Pre-registration required:  First session deadline is Thursday, July 1, 2021, second session deadline is Friday, July 16, 2021, third session deadline is Friday, July 30, 2021.
