El Camino College Named a Top College for Hispanic Students

January 10, 2020 Torrance, CA

El Camino College was recently named one of the leading community colleges in the nation by The Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education Magazine. El Camino is featured in the magazine’s February 2021 edition among the country’s “Top 25 Community Colleges for Hispanics.”

Each year the magazine recognizes America’s colleges and universities with the most Hispanic students, charting the national progress of Hispanics in higher education, which shows significant year-to-year growth. Rankings are based on 2018-19 academic year enrollment figures from the U.S. Department of Education. El Camino College was named No. 16 on the list of top 25 community colleges granting the most AA degrees to Hispanic students and No. 15 among the top 25 community colleges enrolling the largest number of Hispanic students.

“As we work to ensure a diverse, equitable and inclusive college, El Camino is also strengthening academic and support programs designed to help students succeed,” said El Camino College President Dena P. Maloney.

“This recognition by The Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education Magazine reflects  the college’s commitment to create clear pathways that lead to degrees, transfer, and rewarding careers.”

Hispanic students enrolled at El Camino College represent more than half of the student population. The college offers approximately 100 degree and 100 certificate programs, as well as resources and support designed to help students meet their academic goals and transfer or enter the workforce.
