September 20, 2024 Torrance, CA

Hispanic Outlook on Education Magazine recently named El Camino College among the leading community colleges in the nation for enrollment and degrees awarded to Hispanic students. Featured in the magazine’s “Top 50 Community Colleges for Hispanics” edition, El Camino was ranked No. 17 out of the top 50 two-year colleges nationwide for Hispanic student enrollment in 2022 and is No. 15 among colleges granting the most degrees to Hispanic students in 2021-2022. All rankings are based on 2021-2022 academic year statistics from the U.S. Department of Education.

Hispanic Outlook on Education Magazine is a nationally recognized publication that acknowledges the invaluable support that community colleges across the country offer to Hispanic/Latino students. Each year, the magazine publishes its rankings chart, recognizing the national progress of Hispanics in higher education, showing substantial annual growth.

“This recognition by Hispanic Outlook on Education Magazine highlights El Camino’s mission to offer outstanding academic and support programs for our students in pursuit of personal and professional development,” said Dr. Brenda Thames, President and CEO of El Camino College.

Hispanic students represent slightly more than half of the total student population at El Camino College, which is reflective of Los Angeles County’s demographical diversity. El Camino College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) as a two-year college that has educated the brightest minds of the South Bay since 1947. More than 30,000 students are taught by nearly 1,000 award-winning instructors in 2,500 classes for 200 programs. More than 3,600 degrees and certificates were awarded in 2023. For more information visit www.elcamino.edu.
