El Camino College to Sponsor 2025 American College Dance Association Baja Region Conference

April 2, 2025 Torrance, CA

El Camino College will welcome hundreds of students and dance faculty to the 2025 American College Dance Association (ACDA) Baja Region Conference from April 15-18. The conference will include four adjudicated concerts during the week and the spectacular Gala Concert on April 18.

Designed to support dance in higher education, the event draws students and faculty members from dance programs in the Southern California region and across the country. Participants have the opportunity to perform and present choreography in adjudication and/or informal concerts, attend master classes, workshops, panels and concerts, receive feedback from judges, present research, and meet dancers from around the country.

Performances open to the public include dance concerts scheduled for 7 p.m. April 15 and 16, in addition to 1:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. April 17. Tickets to the concerts cost $10 each. The Gala Concert is set for 6 p.m. April 18 and will feature the top-rated groups at the conference. Tickets to the Gala Concert cost $15. All dance concerts will be staged in El Camino’s Marsee Auditorium.

The American College Dance Association’s primary focus is to support and promote the wealth of talent and creativity found throughout college and university dance departments. ACDA’s sponsorship of 11 regional conferences, the National College Dance Festival, the Screendance Festival, and the At-Large Virtual Adjudication Program provides platforms for students and faculty to engage in multiple performances, workshops, panels, and guest artist classes taught by instructors from around the region and country.

All of ACDA’s programs also provide unique opportunities for students and faculty to have their dance works adjudicated by a panel of nationally recognized dance professionals in open and constructive forums. This year, adjudicators for the conference are acclaimed dance professionals Millicent Johnnie, Maura Keefe, and Jesse Zaritt.

The El Camino Community College District encourages persons with disabilities to participate in its programs and activities. If you anticipate needing any type of accommodation, or have questions about the physical access provided, please contact the Center for the Arts as soon as possible, but no later than seven days prior to the event.
