El Camino College President to Lead Caregiver Dialogue, Resource Fair

October 10, 2024 Torrance, CA

El Camino College’s Community Connect series continues this fall, with President Brenda Thames leading a panel discussion that centers on navigating the challenges of caregiving. Free and open to the public, “Community Connect: Caring for the Caregiver” is scheduled for 6-8:30 p.m. Oct. 22 in the college’s East Dining Room.

Partnering with Torrance Memorial Medical Center, Thames will guide an insightful conversation with experts addressing the challenges faced by caregivers and offering assistance for those in a caregiver role. The community is invited to connect with others in similar situations, gain valuable insights, and explore resources that can help ease the caregiving journey. Light refreshments will be available.

The event is second in a series led by President Thames that offers information and resources to community members. Community Connect will feature a different topic each semester, focusing on the many programs and services available at El Camino College. Participants can attend the panel discussion in person or watch via Zoom.

In addition, a fair featuring South Bay community resources designed to support caregivers will be open throughout the event. Available resources include mental wellness support, legal advice, financial information, government services, nutritional information/meal services, medication basics, support groups, and more.

El Camino Community College District encourages persons with disabilities to participate in its programs and activities. If you anticipate needing any type of accommodation, or have questions about the physical access provided, please contact lcooks@elcamino.edu as soon as possible, but no later than seven days prior to the event.

“Community Connect: Caring for the Caregiver” is sponsored by El Camino’s Office of the President and Library & Learning Resources. Free parking is open in the Lot C parking structure (level 2 and above) on Manhattan Beach Boulevard and Lemoli Avenue.
