El Camino College Offers Resources to Help Find Child Care

September 5, 2025 Torrance, CA

El Camino College students who need help finding and paying for childcare can now access free on-campus assistance through Connections for Children.

Starting this fall, representatives from the child care resource and referral agency Connections for Children will offer office hours twice a month. Parents and caregivers interested in exploring child care referrals and assistance with subsidized program eligibility applications are encouraged to stop by and see what is available. El Camino’s Connections for Children office hours will take place on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and the second Thursday of the month from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the college’s Social Justice Center, located in the Communications Building, Room 204. All are welcome to drop in and access this free service, including all faculty, staff, students, and community members. The next office hours will be on Thursday, Sept. 11.

Connections for Children is a nonprofit child care resource and referral agency that has served parents and early care and education providers in West Los Angeles and the South Bay for nearly 50 years. They provide assistance to parents and child care professionals through referrals, financial assistance, professional development, and family engagement opportunities. Connections for Children helps over 3,500 families each year find quality child care regardless of income, with the mission to build a stronger future for children, families, and the early care and education community by connecting them to resources, education, and economic support.

“Parents and other caregivers can become overwhelmed when trying to find child care that meets their family’s needs,” said El Camino childhood education professor Cynthia Cervantes. “Connections for Children staff members are knowledgeable and thoughtful as they work with everyone one-on-one to find what works best for each family. We are so pleased to welcome the Connections for Children team to El Camino.”
