El Camino College Expands Transfer Agreement with Loyola Marymount University
El Camino College recently expanded its established transfer agreement with Loyola Marymount University (LMU) to include students who wish to pursue degrees in science and engineering. On March 5, El Camino College Superintendent/President Brenda Thames joined Associate Vice Provost for Undergraduate Enrollment at Loyola Marymount University Thomas A. Gutto to sign an updated transfer agreement with LMU to include the Seaver College of Science and Engineering.
Starting fall 2024, well-prepared El Camino College students will be eligible for guaranteed admission to LMU if GPA and unit requirements are met. The expanded LMU Guaranteed Transfer Admission Agreement helps streamline the process for El Camino students transferring to the Los Angeles campus.
“This partnership offers a clearly defined pathway to a university degree, along with the personalized support our students are familiar with through their experience at El Camino,” President Thames said. “We are proud to be a part of this program that helps students achieve their academic goals.”
In addition to science and engineering, students can transfer into LMU’s liberal arts, business administration, communications, and fine arts programs. El Camino transfer students also have access to essential LMU services such as campus tours, workshops, financial aid and scholarship information, transfer counseling, pre-admission advising and invitations to campus events – all while preparing for university work.
“It is very important to expand transfer guarantee options for our El Camino students to ensure admission offers from top-tier private universities and this agreement with LMU offers guidance and direction to access outstanding academic programs,” said ECC counselor and Transfer Center Coordinator René Lozano, who helped facilitate the original 2017 transfer guarantee program with LMU’s Gutto, the university’s transfer director at that time.
