El Camino College to Offer Parent and Community Resource Fair

El Camino College will welcome parenting students, faculty, staff, their children, and all parenting community members to a fun and informative Parent and Community Resource Fair from 1-3 p.m. June 3 on the Student Services Plaza and Library Lawn. 

Sponsored by El Camino’s Student Services and the Childhood Education Department, the event is open to the public and designed to connect the college’s parenting community to valuable, relevant resources in a fun, welcoming environment for the whole family.  

“The Parent and Community Resource Fair event was inspired by last year’s Building Bridges Resource Fair presented by the Student Equity and Achievement/Student Leadership Institute ‘Leadership in Action’ Team for Child Care on Campus,” said childhood education professor Cynthia Cervantes. “These events tell our parenting community and their families that they are welcome at El Camino College and that El Camino cares for their holistic well-being.”

Area community organizations will provide information about free or low-cost resources, along with activities for children. The Parent and Community Resource Fair follows the Childhood Education Department and Child Development Club’s monthly “You and Me” playgroup for children ages 0-5 and their caregivers to play, sing, and read alongside fellow parenting community members. All youngsters and their caregivers are invited to attend the playgroup from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the Library Lawn.

In addition to many El Camino resources, a variety of community services will also be represented at the Parent and Community Resource Fair, covering areas such as child care, LGBTQ+ resources, education, and health care, among others.
