El Camino College Theater Department Presents “The Miracle Worker”
The El Camino College Theater Department will present the Tony Award-winning play
“The Miracle Worker” this fall. Performances of the three-act play by William Gibson
are set for 8 p.m. Dec. 1, 2, 8, and 9, and at 3 p.m. Dec. 3 and 10 in the Campus
Theatre. Nathan Singh will direct the production.
“The Miracle Worker” tells the story of Helen Keller, who is unable to see, hear,
and speak due to the aftereffects of scarlet fever, which she contracted as an infant.
When Helen’s parents can no longer cope with her outbursts, they call in innovative
teacher Annie Sullivan to help guide her education. Sullivan’s unflagging guidance
ultimately awakens in Helen the concept of words and opens a world where she can learn,
communicate with others, and find her place and purpose.
The El Camino Community College District encourages persons with disabilities to participate in its programs and activities. If you anticipate needing any type of accommodation, or have questions about the physical access provided, please contact the Center for the Arts as soon as possible, but no later than seven days prior to the event.
