El Camino College Seeks Nominations for 2023 Distinguished Women’s Wall of Fame
The El Camino College Women’s History Month Committee is seeking candidates from the campus and community for the 2023 Distinguished Women’s Wall of Fame.
The Women of Distinction Award recognizes outstanding women from the El Camino community, selected by the committee each year during March, which is designated Women’s History Month. Award nominations may be made by friends, family, and colleagues; individuals may also nominate themselves.
Nominees will be judged for their contributions to women’s and girls’ causes or community service that aligns with this year’s National Women’s History Month theme, “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories.” The theme celebrates women, past and present, who have been active in all forms of media and storytelling including print, radio, TV, stage, screen, blogs, podcasts, news, and social media.
The committee welcomes nominations of all individuals from a diverse range of experiences, backgrounds, and from those who have a demonstrated history of contributing to El Camino and/or to the surrounding community. Those nominated must live or work in the communities within the El Camino Community College District: El Segundo, Hawthorne, Hermosa Beach, Inglewood, Lawndale, Lennox, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, and Torrance.
The nomination deadline is March 15. The leaders will be honored at the Distinguished Women’s Event scheduled for Thursday, March 30. Honorees will also be featured on the El Camino College Distinguished Women’s Wall of Fame (in the Schauerman Library) throughout the year, and their names will be engraved on a plaque that remains on the wall permanently.
