July 20, 2023 Torrance, CA

El Camino College was recently recognized as a top-ranked community college in the nation for its service to Hispanic and Latino students by the nationally-renowned Hispanic Outlook on Education Magazine.

El Camino is featured in the magazine’s “Top 50 Community Colleges for Hispanics” edition, which recognizes colleges and universities in the U.S. with the most Hispanic students. The rankings chart the national progress of Hispanics in higher education, which shows substantial annual growth.

El Camino College was ranked No. 18 out of the top 50 two-year colleges nationwide for Hispanic enrollment in 2021 and is No. 15 among colleges granting the most AA degrees to Hispanic students in the 2020-2021 academic year. Additionally, El Camino College is the No. 9 two-year college for Hispanics in the western region. All rankings are based on 2020-2021 academic year statistics from the U.S. Department of Education.

“As a college that proudly holds the distinction of being a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI), El Camino is proud of the work we do that ensures students have access to an education that promotes and values equity, inclusivity, and excellence,” said El Camino College President Brenda Thames. “It is an honor to be recognized by Hispanic Outlook on Education Magazine as we continue to offer classes and necessary support services so students can earn degrees, prepare for rewarding careers, and look forward to a bright future.”

Hispanic and Latino students enrolled at El Camino College represent more than half of the student population. The college offers approximately 100 degree and 100 certificate programs, in addition to resources and support designed to help students meet their academic goals and transfer or enter the workforce.
