Anointed Feet Dance to Perform at El Camino College’s Center for the Arts

April 4, 2024 Torrance, CA

The acclaimed South Bay-based dance group Anointed Feet Dance returns to El Camino College to perform “The Waiting Room,” an original dance drama interpretation of “The Wiz.”  Presented by El Camino College’s Center for the Arts, performances are set for at 7 p.m. May 10 and 11 in Marsee Auditorium.

Written by Kanisha Bennett (owner/founder of Anointed Feet Dance) and Johnetta McDowell, the performance features choreography by Bennett, McDowell and Kenieshia Jones. Audiences take a stroll down a reimagined “Yellow Brick Road” called “The Streets of Gold” in “The Waiting Room,” and are asked to think about “What are you are waiting for?” and “What do you do when you are waiting?” Viewers are invited to find their own answers as the story unfolds.

Since 2014, Hawthorne-based Anointed Feet Dance has promoted health, wellness, family support and community development through dance workshops and mentorship. Its mission is to inspire dancers of all ages to embrace a lasting love and appreciation for dance through creative and innovative choreography and education.

The El Camino Community College District encourages persons with disabilities to participate in its programs and activities. If you anticipate needing any type of accommodation, or have questions about the physical access provided, please contact the Center for the Arts as soon as possible, but no later than seven days prior to the event.
