By creating a smoke-free campus, El Camino College is committed to providing a healthy, comfortable and productive environment, free from the effects of second-hand smoke.
At their February 17, 2015 meeting, the District Board of Trustees approved a smoking policy that prohibits the use of tobacco or nicotine on campus. Board Policy 3570, applies to all students, employees and visitors in all El Camino College facilities and vehicles. Smoking, the use of smokeless tobacco products, and the use of unregulated nicotine products such as “e-cigarettes” are prohibited in buildings and all outdoor spaces, including parking lots. Sale and advertising of tobacco products is also prohibited in college-owned and occupied buildings, in college publications and on the website.
The policy also includes an education component, which provides for an awareness campaign and makes resources available to members of the college community and visitors who wish to stop tobacco use and seek treatment for tobacco dependence.
