Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Care

Designed to expand on El Camino’s existing two-year accredited associate degree program, the accelerated 40-unit, 18-month bachelor’s degree program is offered in an eight-week, online format across three semesters. Students will further their education in respiratory care while training in areas such as:

  • Personnel management
  • Policy design
  • Case management of patients in a clinical setting

The program is designed to expand preparation and technical expertise of respiratory care practitioners. Program graduates will be trained to serve in leadership and clinical practitioner roles.

How to Apply

Applications for the Respiratory Care bachelor's degree program are accepted each spring for the fall cohort.

Instructions

Applicants must complete all of the following steps:

  • Apply to El Camino College
  • Complete the Online Application (Requires a MyECC student account)
  • All applicants must have completed or be expected to complete a COARC accredited Respiratory Care program and 30 of the 39 units CSU-GE transferable units or IGETC with lower division electives by the end of the Spring semester prior to the Fall semster start of the program. Note: General Education and lower division elective credit will only be accepted from regionally accredited colleges or universities.

$130 per unit

  • $46/unit for all CC courses + $84/unit for baccalaureate courses

Note: The $84/unit stays at the college to support the baccalaureate program.

 

To receive a Baccalaureate of Science in Respiratory Care, students are required to:

  1. Complete a minimum of 120 units with a minimum grade of "C" in all courses which include:
  2. 39 units of CSU-GE transferable units or IGETC with lower division electives- 30 units must be completed prior to admission to the program.
  3. 40 units are credited from A.S. Respiratory Care degree courses
  4. 32 units of upper division respiratory care courses
  5. 9 units of upper division non-respiratory upper division course work
