Learn about the Radiologic Technology program at El Camino College.
Radiologic Technology courses must be completed with a minimum grade of C (75%) before the student may enroll in the next course. The student with prior training or experience may petition for credit by examination for Radiologic Technology 111 and 123.
The Associate Degree Radiologic Technologist Program begins a new class each spring semester. The program is 27 months in length of academic class and clinical education (taken concurrently). This consists of four regular academic semesters (spring and fall), as well as two summer and two winter sessions and completing the program by week 8 last Spring semester.
Students graduate with an Associate of Science Degree in Radiologic Technology from El Camino College at the end of their last fall semester. Students then complete the remaining courses to complete the program by week 8 of the their last spring semester.
Satisfactory completion of the prescribed course of study qualifies graduates to take both State and National Certification Examinations.
The Radiologic Technology Program is accredited by the California State Department of Health Services (Radiologic Health Branch) and the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).
Applications for admission to the program are available on line. The application period is during the Spring semester.
Acceptance at El Camino College does not guarantee entrance into the Radiologic Technology Program. A Program Application and transcripts of all academic work completed (high school and college), must be filed during the open application period each spring.
Accepted students will be required to undergo a complete physical examination, background check and drug testing.
The waiting list has been eliminated. Students must apply annually during the Fall application period for entrance into the program for the following spring semester of the next year.
Cost of books, uniforms and miscellaneous supplies must be borne by the student and is estimated at $1200.

To be eligible for the Certificate of Accomplishment in Radiologic Technology, the student must have an Associate in Science degree in Radiologic Technology. Required Certificate Courses:

Students who complete all Radiologic Technology Associate in Science degree and Certificate of Completion requirements are eligible for certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Students must comply with the “Rules of Ethics” contained in the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Standards of Ethics. The “Rules of Ethics” are minimally acceptable standards of professional conduct for all Registered Technologists and Applicants. The “Rules of Ethics” are intended to promote protection, safety and comfort of patents. Registered Technologists and applicants engaging in any of the conduct or activities noted in the “Rules of Ethics” or in the conviction of a crime, including a felony, gross misdemeanor or a misdemeanor with sole exception of speeding and parking violations, all alcohol and drug related violations are subject to sanctions and must be reported.
