Potential candidate seeking admission into the Advance Standing track must possess a current California LVN/LPN license for at least one year or more and employed as an LVN/LPN in an acute care setting or sub-acute setting within the last three years.
Applicants will be required to provide verification of employment from their employer on the facilities official letterhead at time of application. Applicants may include LVN/LPN, LPT, or transfer students from accredited nursing programs. Advanced standing applicants are accepted into the program on a space-available-basis.
The following courses must be completed with a grade of "C" or better in order to be eligible to apply:
Applicants with a combined total of more than one (1) repeat in Anatomy, Physiology, or Microbiology will be considered ineligible.
Grades of D or F are considered repeats.
Anatomy, Physiology and Microbiology must be completed within the last 7 years. Science courses older than 7 years must be repeated. These courses must include labs.
Possession of a Social Security number is required by the California State Board of Registered Nursing for licensure. You must bring the original Social Security card for verification; we will return the original card to you after verification. Copies will not be accepted for verification. Other acceptable forms of Social Security verification include the first page of your most recent tax return or your W-2 form; these documents will be returned to you.
Applicants without a college degree posted on their transcript must submit proof of high school completion as required by the California State Board of Registered Nursing for licensure. An official high school/GED transcript is required as proof completion OR college degree. If you have a college degree, proof of completion of high school is not needed.
If high school was completed outside the United States, foreign high school must be officially evaluated using one of the official ECC approved evaluators. Translations will not be accepted.
You will need to provide ONE “General Report” from the evaluators. For some companies, you must allow at least 3 weeks for processing. It is the applicant’s responsibility to plan ahead.
Nursing Information session are held by the Nursing Counselor. Attending the workshop is mandatory prior to applying for admission to the nursing program.
Students enrolled in the nursing program are required to complete ALL General Educations before graduation. The nursing department faculty strongly recommended that you complete the required prerequisites prior to beginning the nursing program. Equivalent courses taken at another college may be used to meet these requirements.
