Sustainable DesignEl Camino’s Sustainable Design certificate program sets you on track to enter any number of green building fields immediately after completion or to continue pusuing an education. It’s an accessible, affordable path to a rewarding career in a range of areas from planning and design to policy and energy & resource management. The Program integrates other academic diciplines such as Earth Sciences, Political Science, and Computer Science.

Our Sustainable Design Certificate of Accomplishment typically takes about six months. You can complete the program and be ready for an entry-level job or pursue additional education.

This certificate prepares you to pursue a career in the green building industry and/or sustainable design fields.

  • Explore a broad range of ecological and social issues driving sustainability, as well as an awareness of building science and technology.
  • Build a foundation on the principles of environmentalism and sustainability.
  • Gain specific training in built & natural systems, sustainable materials & technologies, and energy & resource management.
  • Learn about distribution and energy management, water resources, and waste management.
  • Take classes in sustainable theory & application, planning & development, environmental policy, landscape design & ecology, and much more.

As an El Camino Sustainable Design graduate, you’ll be ready to start work or pursue additional education such as an associate degree or bachelor’s degree. We’ll help you build the scientific knowledge and hands-on skills for any Green Building career you choose.
