Degree & Certificates

This degree prepares you for a job in a salon, barbershop, spa, or other type of beauty studio. El Camino is a great place to start if you want to learn about the industry and train for entry-level jobs in your area of interest.

  • Practice hair cutting, coloring, permanent waving, chemical relaxing, manicuring, pedicuring, facials, and related procedures in a hands-on environment.
  • Explore your interests through classes covering cosmetology equipment, procedures, and techniques.
  • Complete 1,600 hours of study and training to prepare for the California State Board of Barbering & Cosmetology examination to become licensed.
  • Special options available for students with military experience or previous cosmetology work from another state.

  • Practice wet and thermal styling, permanent waving, chemical straightening, hair coloring, scalp treatments, manicuring and pedicuring.
