Art History

 

Our Art History program explores art, architecture and visual culture to help you better understand history and our present moment. Art History encourages critical thinking and engagement with a diverse and increasingly connected world, while helping you reflect on your own viewpoints and better understand others’ Students may transfer to a four-year program and prepare for various careers in the art world, including curator, teacher, librarian, restorer, and more.

Degree

The AA-T degree in art history offers a direct path to complete a bachelor's degree in a similar major at a CSU campus. You will also get priority consideration for admission to the CSU system.

  • Gain a comprehensive foundation in the history, theory, and practice of art.
  • Develop observational, compositional, technical, and interpretative skills through a range of studio art courses.
  • Take a variety of culturally diverse art history classes that prepare you to analyze, assess, and discuss art from several historical and style periods.
  • Explore works of art in relation to historical and cultural contexts that consider the effects of shifting social, political, philosophical, and spiritual paradigms on art production.
  • Start your journey on a clear pathway toward a bachelor’s degree and even graduate study.
